10 Bunches of Elodea Densa Oxygenating Pond Plant

I bought 10 bunches for a newly built pond containing a few water hyacinths, 20 tadpoles, 9 goldfish and about1700 litres of rainwater. The plants arrived wet in a plastic bag. The growth that was present at that time seems to have remained a dark green and the plants are all putting on new growth of a paler green and loads of roots/shoots coming out of the bottom. So i think they’re alive, but they didn’t seem to like the transportation much. I’m not sure if you are supposed to be able to see the oxygenation in progress (i have noticed it in pond stockist shops), but I haven’t noticed any so far.

I have them plugged into the bottom of a plant pot full of small gravel.

This is a favourite oxygenating weed for aquarium and ponds. I usually buy a quantity in the spring to replenish the stock in my two garden ponds. This year the whole stock died (disappeared) after only a few weeks. This is the first time it has happened and as the bunches were distributed in different pond i can only assume that the weed was faulty (e.g. were diseased when i purchased them)

Usually when I treat new pond plants with Banzo I get a load of dead pests, but these plants were pest free.

Despite ordering out of of season, these were all healthy.
