Kirstie Allsopp speaks about ‘pressure’ on the Duchess of Cambridge

Homes expert and TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has defended the Duchess of Cambridge against critics and spoken about the ‘pressure’ she feels the royal is under.

Speaking to Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain yesterday (26th), Kirstie commented on the Duchess showing her new son to the world just hours after giving birth on Monday (23rd).

She suggested the royal feels pressure to do so, because it’s what her late mother in law, Diana Princess of Wales, did too.

“She’s always gonna feel that pressure, Diana came out and did it, so of course I suspect that the Duchess of Cambridge wanted to be seen to do it,” Kirstie said.

“She had her baby in her arms, she’s not going to go and talk to people.

That’s a six-hour-old baby. You’re not gonna expose it to…however lovely all the people are…you’re not going to expose a new baby to a whole load of people. “I couldn’t believe people were saying, ‘Why didn’t she stop and chat?'” Kirstie continued.

The Duke and Duchess’ third child was born on Monday 23rd April at 11am and it was announced by Kensington palace that mother and baby are doing well.

Good Morning Britain continues Monday morning on ITV.
