Harry and Meghan’s cake designer reveals wedding cake tease

The royal wedding countdown is well and truly underway, and with only four sleeps to go, royal fans are eager to find out more about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s special day.
And cake designer Claire Ptak from Violet Cakes Bakery has revealed the baking of the cake has begun, teasing fans with some pictures on Instagram.

First up she snaps six crates of lemons with the caption: “And so it begins.”

The wedding cake is going to be lemon and elderflower flavoured, and decorated with buttercream and fresh flowers for the big day in Windsor on 19 May. She also teased royal wedding fans with a picture of a buttercream topped cake, adorned with fresh flowers – peonies to be exact, which are supposedly a favourite of Meghan’s.

While she hasn’t confirmed that this is the decoration of the royal wedding cake, it has certainly got fans talking.

“Cannot wait to see your creation,” writes one fan. “Beautiful! Best of luck for the big wedding this weekend,” adds another. Claire Ptak has a pretty impressive career story so far.

From California, she moved to London to start her own business, beginning on market stall on Broadway Market in East London, where she would cook at home. She then opened her cafe in Hackney in 2010. Ptak’s baking focuses on using organic ingredients as much as possible (all flour, sugar, milk and eggs are organic) as well as high-quality, seasonal products.

Her creations are always extravagant, and beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and fruit. We can’t wait to see what she creates for the royals! MORE: PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE REVEAL THE FLORAL ARRANGEMENT DETAILS FOR THEIR WEDDING
