This was under the tree on Christmas morning for my rock obsessed 6-year old, who collects stones every where he goes. We have just finished all four cycles with the stones we received in the box, mostly jaspers, with some other nice ones like tiger’s eye, leopardskin and amethyst. Patience is definitely a must with this but the results are really fabulous. The rock tumbler is super easy to set up and get going. We didn’t get any leaks like others reported, but I think cleaning the lids and barrel well between grit changes helps a lot to keep it watertight. We did a week on each grit though I think the polishing stage needed longer as we didn’t get a high shine. There’s now a load of my son’s own stones in there on the first tumble so it will be interesting to see how they turn out. The tumbler is very noisy and would drive me insane if it was in the house – if you’re in any way sensitive to recurrent noise (ticking clocks, dripping taps) it could end up a special kind of torture for you!

Great product. Works really well and is well built. You do need to consider where to use this as it does create quite a bit of noise. I ended up mounting mine to a carpet lined board. This kept the noise down. Highly recommended.

Works really well and my daughter is having great fun choosing stones from the beach and garden to polish. My only criticism is that the final product doesn’t have the shine of the gem stones you buy in shops. I can’t help thinking there is an extra stage (perhaps the shop ones are coated in some sort of material to give them that wet look shine).
