How much are Crufts tickets and is there a 2019 discount promo code? – Birmingham Live

It's the Oscars of the canine world.

The NEC is hosting Crufts[1] 2019 with 27,000 dogs taking part and 21,000 of those vying for the coveted Best in Show title at the venue's Resorts World Arena.

Dogs first compete against others of the same breed, in several classes.

Dog and bitch winners are chosen for each class, then these are narrowed down to one top dog and one top bitch for the breed. Those two then go head to head to decide the Best of Breed.

Then the Best of Breed winners in each group compete against each other to find Best in Group.

Those seven finalists - one from each group - compete for Best in Show.

And there can be unexpected drama[2] at the event.

In 2018, a protester carrying a PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) banner caused chaos after invading the Best in Show arena as 9,000 people watched the ceremony.

A spokesperson for Crufts[3] said at the time: "It appears that protesters from PETA gained unauthorised access to the ring in the main arena at Crufts, and in doing so scared the dogs and put the safety of both dogs and people at risk in a hugely irresponsible way."
