Multiple phone leaks show May 21 is going to be a big day for Honor

Honor will launch a new smartphone on May 21 at an event in London. The company has already released the Honor View 20 this year, along with the Honor 10 Lite, and will now bring the Honor 20. The phone is a sequel to the Honor 10, which has been available since April 2018. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Special editions

Honor has at least one special version of the Honor 20 to reveal on May 21. The first is a continuation of the Moschino collaboration introduced with the Honor View 20. The good news is, the pair have deepened the partnership, and the line-up will this time include a special Moschino edition of the phone. Honor says the new phone will have a Moschino design on it, and will also come inside a Moschino box with a Moschino case, and software theme.

Additionally, Moschino will make a co-branded phone bag, complete with chain-style strap, and you can see a picture of it above. What we assume is the Honor 20 is visible in the official photos of the phone bag, showing a red color will continue over from the View 20, but the camera or notch solution Honor will choose for the Honor 20 is not shown.

The second could be the international release of the Honor 20i x AAPE Special Edition, recently announced in China. It comes in pink and blue camouflage color schemes, and in potentially limited numbers. Images show the phone will come in an AAPE-branded box, and most likely with AAPE themed software. AAPE is a spin-off of the Bathing Ape fashion brand.

Announcement date and name

The Honor 20 teaser image includes a mysterious collection of numbers, the first of which confirms the date of the event 5/21, or May 21, and the rest is a collection of the number 4. This could be a hint the are phone will have four camera lenses. It shows Tower Bridge in London, accompanied by the hashtag #CaptureWonder, suggesting that once again, Honor will put the camera’s ability at the forefront of the announcement.

What will the new phone be called? The Honor 20 seems most likely, although rumors are showing we may see more than one new device at the event. Leaks have suggested the Honor 20, the Honor 20 Lite, and the Honor 20i. Unusually, Honor has so far not announced a version of the Honor 20 in China, where traditionally the new phone has debuted first before the rest of the world. Honor Global’s PR manager indicated in a tweet the new phone will not follow this trend, and the London event will be the first time the new phone will be seen.

Last but not least, an Honor 8S may launch as well. It’s rumored to be 5.7-inch phone with dual cameras and a teardrop notch.

Honor 20 specification

What about the specification? Leaks have built up a decent picture of what could be the Honor 20. Apparently it will have the same 48-megapixel camera seen on the Honor View 20, along with a 20-megapixel second lens, and a third 8-megapixel lens too. If the number 4 hint applies to the cameras, it likely includes the selfie cam in this setup. Other potential specs include a Kirin 980 processor, up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Honor 20 Lite and Honor 20i

Honor has announced the Honor 20 Lite and the Honor 20i already, and both are closely related to the Huawei P30 Lite. It has a 6.21-inch screen, three camera lenses made up of a 24 megapixel, 8 megapixel, and a 2-megapixel lens, plus a rear fingerprint sensor, and a Kirin 710 processor. The Honor 20 Lite has been announced in Malaysia, while the Honor 20i (or Glory 20i) is for China.

There’s still plenty of time for more about the new Honor 20 line to leak ahead of launch, and we’ll keep you updated on the all here.
