Tesco ClubCard holders 'get 50 per cent off as part of supermarket's 100th birthday' – Mirror Online

Those with a Tesco ClubCard will be able to pick up 50 per cent discounts on their shopping in May.

According to a briefing seen by MoneySavingExpert.com they'll be able to tap into a new range of deals online and in-store next month - all thanks to a big Tesco birthday.

The site says there will be up to 50 per cent off items from coffee to cat food, F&F clothing to BBQ tools.

Tesco stores will run the 'ClubCard Prices' offer as part of a major new promotion to celebrate the supermarket's 100th birthday.

Steve Nowottny, news and features editor at MoneySavingExpert.com, said: "Although we don't yet have full details, this sounds like an intriguing new promotion – and from what we know so far, a great extra perk for ClubCard customers.

How will it work?

According to moneysavingexpert.com, all Clubcard holders need to do is buy things as normal and the reductions will be added at the till when you scan your card.

If you're shopping online, they'll be added when you check out and the discounts will show on the receipt.

There's no limit to the number of discounts you can buy in one go.

"If you're a Tesco shopper, this is another reason to consider getting a ClubCard – even without this promo it's a decent loyalty scheme, and if you sign up now you'll be ready to take advantage when the discounts go live.

"However, it's important to remember loyalty doesn't always pay.

"Even if something's seriously discounted by Tesco it may still be cheaper elsewhere, so check.

Your ClubCard could be the key to savings

"And loyalty cards like ClubCard, Nectar and so on should never dictate where you shop – but if you're going to shop there anyway, you might as well use one and get the benefit."

Tesco hasn't publicly released any details of the promotion yet.

According to MSE, the document they've seen says ClubCard holders will get discounts "from coffee to cat food, as well as F&F clothing and BBQ tools in larger stores".

Examples include

  • 50% off Nescafe Alta Rice instant coffee (100g)   - down to £2.50 from £5.
  • 33% off Lipton Ice Tea peach flavour (1.25L)   - down to £1.16 from £1.75.
