'Is furniture and appliance insurance worth the money?' – The Times

Nicola Ward works full-time in marketing for an education charity. In her spare time, Nicola, 29, from Slough in Berkshire, who has a young daughter, co-founded a London-based company called Cake Drop, which delivers celebration cakes from artisan bakeries to offices.

If that were not enough to keep her busy, Nicola recently bought her first home using the government’s shared-ownership scheme and is in the process of furnishing it. However, she is worried about the high cost of insurance that furniture companies and department stores are trying to sell her. Does she really need it or is it duplicating what is already covered by her home insurance?
