Chaos in Sainsbury's after toy sale and £50 Dyson offer causes 35-minute queues – Mirror Online

It's been a chaotic morning for Sainsbury's workers after the retailer sent shoppers into meltdown over two controversial sales - that have been flying off shelves for those lucky enough to find them.

"The phone hasn't stopped ringing," Sainsbury's worker, Debbie, told Mirror Money.

"Customers have been asking if we have any Dyson deals, it's so busy," she added.

As stores opened on Wednesday morning, a Dyson promotion, selling seven models of the vacuum cleaner at a discounted price, went live.

However, the offer became a talking point, after Sainsbury's itself confirmed only a few stores had the item in stock - leaving customers fuming.

At the same time, the supermarket also launched huge a toy sale - sparking the big build up to Christmas.

It includes deals on popular brands like Hot Wheels, Hatchimal and Playmobil, perfect for Christmas presents.

And it's sent shoppers into an even bigger frenzy.

"The toy sale also started today - and we keep running out of the big trolleys!" Debbie added.

Our sister title the Plymouth Herald captured images at one local store in Marsh Mills, where aisles were flooded with customers desperate to get their hands on the discounts this morning.

One customer said she had been stuck in the queue so long she has had to feed her baby whilst in store.

Another said she had been trying to exit the car park for 35 minutes, due to an influx of shoppers trying to leave the branch.

"No vacuums in Marsh Mills Sainsbury's, but the toy sale has caused a massive influx of customers. Stuck in car park now for 35 minutes," she explained.

"May be worth telling people to avoid unless necessary."

Emma Farrell, woke up first thing to nab the best bargains and to take photos.

"Hundreds of toys were up to half price, but not all of them had the 50% off tag," she said.

"I saw Harry Potter, LEGO, Barbie, remote controlled cars... but no Dyson vacuum."

"Staff said it was a false rumour and they hadn't been sent any. Tbh, people at Latest Deals thought it was too good to be true so I wasn't surprised.

"My top tip is to use the handheld shopping scanners. Some toys don't have the discounted price displayed, so if you use the scanner you can see what the sale price is. And don't forget your Nectar card!"

Tom Church, at deals blog LatestDeals , added: "October toy sales are a great way to spread the cost of Christmas.

"Argos is doing 10 weeks of toy promotions, with 25% off Chad Valley this week, and then also hot on the bargain hunter's calendar is 25% off ASDA George kids clothing on Thursday, and Sainsbury's Tu Clothing 25% off on Tuesday.
