They are made from wheat stems, which are left over after the ‘ears’ or ‘spikes’ of wheat are harvested for cereals / grains etc. Traditionally a waste-product, we cut the stems to size and sterilise them through a non-toxic and chemical free 5-step process. The process uses minimal energy and prevents this valuable resource going to waste. Our straws are disposable but completely biodegradable and compostable. Even in landfill, our straws will biodegrade naturally and return to the earth. The material will fertilise the ground and help to support new life. The boxes are made from recycled kraft cardboard and can be re-recycled.
