By painting the tiles and cupboards, swapping out the door handles, installing a new sink and lights, she made the entire room look much more modern and luxe.  In a new TikTok reel, she said: “This is how I transformed my kitchen from looking like this to looking like this on a budget because I’m poor, lol.

“First of all I wanted to change these tiles because they were disgusting, and I used this tile paint which was amazing, just with a short pile roller.”  Rachel shared that she used two coats of the V33 Renovation White Satinwood Wall tile & panelling paint, now reduced to GBP18 in B&Q.  She continued: “Just went straight in for it really, just making sure I was getting in all the little cracks and crevices.

“And I cleaned the tiles beforehand…look how much better that looks, oh my days. I could have just left it like that. “Next up was painting the cupboards.

So here I am, just taking off all the door handles, just simply unscrewing them from the back.  “Sugar soaped all the fronts down which is really, really important, and just went through with this primer.”

For this, the DIY pro used Johnstone’s Any Surface Primer Paint, priced at GBP13.50 in Argos.  She added: “I did want to prime it even though the paint I was going to use didn’t need it, just because it gave it a rough finish for the paint to sit on.  “Once I’d done the fronts, I then obviously had to take off the cupboards from the hinges and do all of the backs.

“Went through and painted all the frames.  “With all the priming I did, back and front, I only needed one pot of paint which was insane. “Just a little quick tip – I bought these tray inserts  which just save you washing up the trays every time you use them.

“And then just following the same steps that I did with the primer.” Rachel revealed that she only used one pot of the primer and one pot of paint to do her cabinets.  She then upgraded the handles on the front using some black t-bars she found on Amazon.

She continued: “Now just some little final touches. My dad put on these under-cupboard lights – oh look at that, beautiful.  “And then we wanted a little shelf above the sink which Jack put up for me, and that just looks so cute.

“Spekaing of sinks, we wanted a new sink because our one was ugly so there’s my dad scraping out all the insides.  “There’s our sink. Doing all the plumbing before we put it in.

“Making sure it was fitted down nice and tightly, and then here’s my dad doing all the complicated plumbing underneath.  “Beautiful sink, so proud of it.  “And there we go, that’s my kitchen.

I’m so happy with it and I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out.” Fans loved Rachel’s quick tutorial, with the video gaining more than 40,200 likes and 939,000 views.  In the comments, other TikTok users shared their reactions, with some finding it hard to believe it was the same room.
