Bargain retailer Aldi is bringing back its vegan lamb roast with mint gravy ahead of Easter Sunday. The supermarket giant will resume selling its Plant Menu No Lamb Roasting Joint nationwide from April 4. Retailing at just GBP4.49, the meat-free dish features a Rosemary and Onion Stuffing centre and comes with a Red Onion And Mint Gravy.
Aldi’s vegan lamb roast
The mushroom-based meat alternative was a hit with customers last year, when it debuted for a limited time.
One food reviewer described the product as a “truly gloriously flavoured lamb alternative for Easter”. They added: “I’m deeply sad that it’s only a special buy and likely won’t return again, as it was an absolutely delicious roast. “Best one I’ve had in years, beating any Xmas themed roast too.
Aldi really outdid themselves this year!”
A plant-based push
In Germany, Aldi recently revealed plans to expand its plant-based offering to a whopping 1,000 vegan products by the end of next year. The retailer unveiled its ambitious aim in a nutrition report, outlining how it would reduce the amount of animal ingredients in its products, as well as add new items to its plant-based lines. “Our goal is to offer our customers 1,000 plant-based product varieties spread across the year in our standard, seasonal and promotional ranges by the end of 2024,” the report states.
“We’re focusing not only on reducing the small quantities of animal-based ingredients in our products… But also on consistently expanding our vegan range.” Vegan Food & Living has contacted Aldi for comment
