ALDI supermarket shares bargain seafood buys for Easter

ALDI has announced its seafood range for upcoming Easter festivities and Sustainable Seafood Week, starting at just £2.99.

With its cheap and responsibly-sourced seafood products, ALDI has also released easy and delicious recipes to throw together this Good Friday.

The supermarket has been named Australia’s Best Sustainable Seafood Supermarket by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)’s Sustainable Seafood Awards.

ALDI has had responsibly sourced seafood on all private label ALDI products since 2021, whilst keeping their products within shoppers’ budgets, as the cost of living crisis continues to pack a punch in Australia.

ALDI has told shoppers to look out for the MSC and ASC labels on seafood products to know they are sustainably sourced.

Ocean Rise pink salmon is available from ALDI for just £2.99, and shoppers can cook up ALDI’s Spaghetti with Spicy Salmon and Olives recipes in just 20 minutes (see full recipe below).

If salmon’s not your cup of tea, ALDI also have Ocean Royale Hoki Fillets for £15.99 and Ocean Royale Southern Blue Whiting Fillets for £10.99 – plus much more.

Sustainable Seafood Week at ALDI is running from 27 March until 2 April.

How to Make Spaghetti with Spicy Salmon and Olives

Serves 4 // Prep time: 10mins // Cook time: 10mins

Method:

  1. Cook 350g of spaghetti in a large saucepan of salted boiling water to packet directions (or until al dente).
  2. Drain 1 1/2 x 130g tins of Ocean Rise pink salmon and set aside.
  3. Drain olives (150g), remove the pits and roughly chop. Add the salmon to the olives. Stir to combine.
  4. Toast 2tbsp pine nuts by dry frying over a medium heat, moving around continuously, until lightly toasted.

    Set aside.

  5. Meanwhile, place the olive oil into a large frying pan set over a medium heat. Slice 3 cloves of garlic and add to pan, cooking until softened.
  6. Using tongs, carefully lift out pasta from pot, shaking off excess water. Transfer the cooked pasta to the salmon mixture, along with a splash of the pasta water.

    Turn off the heat, add the parsley and toasted pine nuts and stir.

  7. Add the juice of one lemon and 1 fresh red chilli (if using) to taste and serve immediately.

Tip: Try substituting the olives for chopped, roasted red capsicum (peppers) or artichokes.
