Assistance League of Northern Virginia is THRILLED to be recognized again by Giant Food for its work to reduce hunger in the community. Through its Weekend Food for Kids program, Assistance League distributes 1680 bags of nonperishable food each month to students at six schools and grocery gift cards to a seventh school during the school year.
All seven schools receive grocery cards during summer. In the past year, several Giant stores have designated the nonprofit organization as the beneficiary of proceeds from two of its community programs to reduce food insecurity in the neighborhoods where shoppers live and work. Assistance League is grateful to Giant Food and the customers who purchased Bloomin’ 4 Good Bouquets and Community Bags at the designated stores.
Assistance League is honored that THREE Giant Food stores have selected it to receive £1 for every £2.50 reusable Community Bag sold during the month of April. Those three stores are located at: 5870 Kingstowne Blvd., Alexandria; 10653 Braddock Road, Fairfax; and 13330 Franklin Farm Road, Herndon. Your purchase of a Community Bag at those stores in April will help reduce hunger in your community and reduce the use of plastic bags.
