BBC Bargain Hunt couple’s staggering profit after chancing tiny item
A married couple on BBC’s Bargain Hunt made a huge profit after taking a chance on a small, unassuming item. Presenter Christina Trevanion was back for Friday’s episode, and introduced viewers to the newest teams. Married couple Adam and Connie, a logistics planner and an administrator respectively, made up the Red Team.
Meanwhile Andy and Paula, also married and both retired, wore the blue jackets in the latest instalment of the profit-seeking competition. Adam and Connie were GBP7 in the red after selling a monkey ornament, bought for GBP35, for GBP28. They then made a GBP15 profit on a glass bottle with an enamel top, before making a GBP15 loss on a stuffed walrus toy. It was then time for the couple to see if they wanted to chance expert Kate Bliss’ “Bonus Buy”.
Kate had purchased a small enamel brooch for GBP80, and it was up to Adam and Connie to see if they thought it was worth auctioning. But while the brooch didn’t look like much, it was actually crafted by late 19th century jeweller David Andersen. And Adam and Connie were very glad they sold out.
Bids came flooding in, with the item eventually selling for GBP240, some GBP160 profit. This left the Red Team with a total gain of GBP153 at the end of the programme. As the Blue Team made just GBP36 profit, the Reds were the winners.
