BBC Bargain Hunt item bought for £8 gets bids ‘in the hundreds’
A Bargain Hunt item bought for GBP8 received bids in the “hundreds” in the latest episode. On Thursday, host Natasha Raskin Sharp welcomed another four contestants to the show. Married couple Clive and Debbie, both retired, were in red jackets, while another married couple, David and Vijaya, who are a finance director and accountant respectively, made up the Blue Team. Each team was given GBP300 to shop at a sale at Oswestry Showground, with whoever made the biggest profit, or smallest loss, to be declared the winner.

David and Vijaya’s cutlery set made a GBP5 profit, while their inkwell stand made a GBP5 loss, leaving them with a net profit of nothing. The first bid was GBP5, to which the auctioneer said: “500, yes we have 500 pence. Do I see 6?”, before he then saw bids of “600”, “700” and “800”.
The item finally sold for GBP10, or 1000 pence as he put it. After selling their bonus item, chosen by expert Kate Bliss, the Blue Team had an overall profit of GBP18, meaning they won today’s challenge. Bargain Hunt airs weekdays at 12.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
