Carlisle family wins ?100,000 in Northern Competitions draw
Sinead Rothery, from Carlisle, won the money in the online draw last week – making it the competition company Northern Competitions’ biggest payout to date. Owner of the business, Ryan Dodgson – aka The Raffle King – has been running the business part-time for the past two years. “It’s an online competition where people can go on and win prizes,” he said.
“We’ve been up and running for over two years. It started off with small prizes but over the years it’s got bigger and full of life-changing prizes. “People have also been winning GBP5,000 and GBP10,000, every month, for the whole of the year.
We’ve also got holidays, gift cards and plenty of products up for grabs.” Winners have bagged everything from gaming consoles, air-fryers and Louis Vuitton bags in the past. “Lately, we’re starting to get loads and loads of winners in Carlisle,” Ryan said.

Earlier today, a man from Barrow won a Rolex GMT Master II Batman watch, with a woman from Maryport scooping up a Playstation 5. Ms Rothery declined to comment on her win when contacted by the News & Star, but the prizes can be life-changing. One recent winner, 27-year-old Rhianne Hodgson, a security worker from Broughton Moor, was left ‘completely overwhelmed’ after finding out she had won GBP50,000 in January.
That win even allowed Ms Hodgson and her partner to bring the date of their wedding forward. “The competitions are just life-changing and it feels more achievable because it’s people that you know that are winning these competitions,” she said at the time.
