The Piece Hall is launching a new way to support and engage with this unique heritage asset – a membership scheme called Club 1779.

Members of Club 1779 will get access to presales for a selection of Piece Hall gigs, shows and workshops, including Live at The Piece Hall.

There will also be invites to exclusive club members’ events and previews, as well money off vouchers and special offers and deals at The Piece Halls outlets.

On joining members will also receive a specially designed tote bag, a bespoke badge, a free heritage tour, and get the chance to ring The Piece Hall Bell.

The Club’s name is based on the year this iconic building was first opened for the trading of pieces of woollen cloth, made in people’s homes as part of Yorkshire’s famous cottage industry.

The Piece Hall is now an award-winning heritage, culture, retail and community destination run by a charitable trust.

CEO of The Piece Hall Trust Nicky Chance-Thompson DL said:

“We know just how much The Piece Hall means to people and we want them to be able to have extra special connection to this precious building. As well as receiving a whole host of perks, privileges and special offers, Club 1779 members will be supporting the vital work we do here.

“The age of this beautiful building is part of its unique charm but that comes with a price tag; it costs around GBP13,000 per day to maintain and run the site.

“The team here work incredibly hard, with all profit made by the Trust going straight back into the upkeep of The Piece Hall to make sure we can secure its future.

“Everyone who joins the club will be helping us to continue protecting and preserving it for generations to come, making sure it remains free to enter, and supporting our programme of diverse, affordable events and activities, many of which are completely free of charge to the public.” The first Club 1779 memberships are available now at GBP35 per year.

To celebrate the launch and to thank previous members for their loyalty The Piece Hall will be giving away two prizes of 2 x Live at Lounge tickets for one of the Live at The Piece Hall 2023 summer gigs.

Each package is worth more than GBP400.

One prize will go to a member of the existing scheme and one will go to a new Club 1779 member.

Anyone who is a member on the closing date of 30 April will be entered into the draw which will take place on 1 May.

Winners will be notified by the second week of May 2023.

Anyone with a previous Piece Hall membership will continue on their agreed terms and conditions until their renewal date when they will have the option to be able to transfer to the new Club 1779 scheme.
