Game Pass loses one of the best Xbox survival games in April

One of the best survival games on Xbox will soon drop out of the Game Pass library. Developer Hinterland has announced that The Long Dark will leave Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass in April.

As confirmed on Twitter by Hinterland, The Long Dark, a fantastic survival title that is one of the best games on Game Pass, will leave Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on April 16th.

The Long Dark leaves Game Pass on April 16th

With The Long Dark leaving Game Pass next month, Hinterland has warned players not to purchase the game’s upcoming expansion, Tales From The Far Territory, if they don’t already own the game. The developer has also provided an update on discounts for The Long Dark and the new expansion: “We are waiting for confirmation that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have the opportunity to purchase Tales From The Far Territory at a discount when it launches on March 30th,” Hinterland said. “Either way, there will be opportunities to purchase Tales From The Far Territory at a discount post-launch.”

Hinterland goes on to say that it can confirm specific discount intentions.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be given the “opportunity to purchase The Long Dark at a discount when it exits Game Pass on April 16th,” and current owners of The Long Dark “will be able to purchase Tales From The Far Territory at a discount sometime later in April.” If you’re yet to start The Long Dark, know that the completion is a long one. Estimates suggest that unlocking all 56 achievements in the game will take the best part of 200 hours, if not more.

Just like the game itself, it’s a tough completion, too. The Long Dark pits you against the harsh Canadian wilderness where your only enemies are the cold, starvation, and hungry animals skulking around in the dark. It offers an authentic survival experience where you are constantly forced to weigh up the risks and rewards of each situation and is easily one of the most atmospheric games around.
