King County Sheriff’s Office conducting ‘Gift Cards for Guns’ to lessen gun violence, prevent deaths
The King County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a “Gift Cards for Guns” event to prevent gun deaths and lessen gun violence. The KSCO said they also want to offer a safe option for returning unwanted guns and ammunition, with the ultimate goal of promoting public health and safety. They also want to address the increase in gun violence in the community by offering an easily accessible return program.
“For people who no longer want guns, or the risks associated with having them, submitting them for destruction is a viable alternative to selling them,” said the KSCO. The event will take place Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the KSCO Southwest Precinct at 14905 6th Avenue Southwest, Burien, WA 98166. Anyone with a gun, not just from King County, can turn in a gun or ammunition.
Those participating will remain anonymous. No identification is shown by participants at this event. Gift cards will be given for firearms only.
No money will be given for toy guns, B-B/pellet guns, homemade guns, non-firing objects that look like guns, ammunition, magazines and other ammunition-feeding devices, and gun accessories.
The prices for firearms are:
-
£25 for antique firearms, junk guns, firearms that appear inoperable, receivers/frames only, and bump-fire stocks.
-
£50 for muzzle-loading firearms manufactured after the U.S. entered WWII (less than 82 years old).
-
