New scam on Instagram with Shein cards. I’ll tell you how to dodge it, it has come to me too
The scam makes you believe that you have won a Shein gift card worth 800 euros.
join the conversation The online scams and on social networks they are, unfortunately, the order of the day. Every day they uncover new cheat formats who use an economic hook to profit from clueless users who fall into the trap.
A dangerous scam has recently been detected that takes place on Instagramand that uses assumptions as bait coupons and gift cards for purchases at Shein, the popular fashion website. Below I describe the threat and how to avoid it, because it has come to me personally too. In my case I received a notification that I had been tagged in an Instagram post.
When I opened the app I found that it was a photo similar to the one that brands use in rafflesbut explaining to me that he had been selected to obtain a card of balance of 800 euros in Shein. The account had the official Shein logo as its profile picture, but the name screamed scam in all directions.
The web carries out a farce with nine mysterious boxes
The publication will invite you to enter the profile stories, where you will be redirected to a website that try to simulate a raffle on the clothing website. Once on the fraudulent website, the system will ask you a series of personal data and then it will present you with a total of 9 “mystery boxes” of which you have to choose three.
The trap is designed to give a false sense of chance, and in the third try you will always get the box that has the prize. After the farce the web will ask you a small disbursement of 1.99 euros with the concept of “shipping costs”. It all sounds very strange when they ask you for an income for shipping costs to receive a gift card, but if you insert your card to do so, you have screwed up.
The web not only will not send you a single euro, but every two weeks a charge of 33 euros will be made to the account.
Remember that you should never trust brand accounts that are not official, and even if they are, Be wary if they ask you for bank details when there is no purchase or promotion in between. Always you better contact customer service of the store in question to verify that what you have seen on the networks is real.
