10 Use Flash Grenades For Mutated Enemies
Most enemies have an alternate variant to their model. Once defeated, enemies will occasionally reanimate as mutated versions of themselves. These mutants will be much more difficult the second time around, so players will need to think fast.
Something that isn’t extremely obvious at first is the fact that these mutated enemies are sensitive to flash grenades. While flash grenades are useful in many different scenarios, their most impactful application is against these mutants, which can be stunned, or even taken down, with a single one of these projectiles.
9 Spend Time In The Shooting Range
The Shooting Range is a very useful activity to do. Here, players will be tasked with shooting targets as they appear for points.
The more points achieved, the better the reward, which comes in the form of silver and gold Tokens. These Tokens can be traded in for Charms, which give players useful perks like increased potency of healing items or Merchant shop discounts. The Shooting Range can also help players sharpen up their aim for various weapons, so all around it’s a great place to spend time.
8 Buy Body Armor
The usefulness of Body Armor cannot be understated.
This piece of equipment will block damage from various different angles and costs a relatively low price in the shop. Buying this item and keeping it repaired will prove useful in the long run. RELATED: Resident Evil: Best Puzzles In The Franchise
This item will show up in the Merchant’s shop at the beginning of Chapter 8, only setting players back 18,000 Pesetas. The Body Armor is arguably one of the best items in the game, so don’t pass it up when given the chance.
7 Tune-Up Weapons Frequently
There are many powerful weapons in Resident Evil 4 Remake, but even Leon’s starting loadout can become a force to be reckoned with by spending money in the tune-up menu. It may not seem worth it due to the steep price that some of these upgrades cost, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Players can upgrade a weapon’s power, ammo capacity, reload speed, rate of fire, and even more later in the game. All weapons in the game, even the Combat Knife, can be upgraded at the Merchant’s tune-up shop.
6 Parry & Evade When Possible
Parrying is one of the most crucial mechanics to get down early in the game. Players will come in close contact with enemies all throughout the game, so knowing how to counter their attacks is an invaluable skill.
Parrying is great, but when in a pinch, don’t be scared to take a step back and get out of a difficult situation. Some attacks will do more damage to Leon than others, but parrying and evading them will help avoid the brunt of the injury.
5 Use A Variety Of Weapons
Ammo is one of the most valuable commodities in the game, and one of the best ways to reserve it is to have a wide variety of weapons on hand. Not only will this allow players to use the right weapon in the right circumstance, but it will also ensure that they still have a fighting chance if they run out of ammo with their go-to gun.
Weapons take up a lot of space in the player’s case, so inventory management will become increasingly important as the game progresses, but it is worth putting time and effort into. Having weapons with many different ammo types is vital.
4 Sell Weapons You Don’t Use
It is easy to get attached to weapons, especially ones that have been in Leon’s inventory since the beginning of the game. Players should do their best to put this attachment aside, as weapons take up inventory space in the case and won’t do any good sitting in storage.

3 Save Heavy Ammo For Big Enemies
It will be enticing to pull out a shotgun or rocket launcher as often as possible, but saving the heavy weapons for difficult enemies is a must.
As mentioned before, ammo can be in short supply, especially for larger weapons so players don’t want to be caught without the resources they need when it comes to a big fight. Thankfully, deducing which enemies are a real threat is pretty easy. Shotguns, rifles, and rocket launchers will prove most useful against high-ranking enemies and mutants so those should be saved when possible.
2 Repair/Upgrade Your Combat Knife
We’ve already covered the importance of tuning up your weapons, but the Combat Knife is one that can be easy to overlook.
Knives are almost required in the player’s inventory. They can help with stealth takedowns, parrying, and countering deadly attacks. Because of their importance, keeping the Combat Knife, one of the better knives in the game, repaired and upgraded is vital.
Don’t underestimate the importance of this small tool in Leon’s arsenal of large and aggressive weapons.
1 Aim For Weak Points
While this may seem like a no-brainer, aiming for an enemy’s weak point can be easy to forget when you’re being swarmed with mutants. Most enemies, even the big ones, will have specific points on their bodies that deal increased damage when hit. These weak points aren’t always apparent, but looking for parts of the body that stand out will usually lead players to the correct conclusion.
On enemies that don’t seem to have a visible weak point, try aiming for the head or limbs for quick, increased damage.
