First things first, though: what’s TalkTalk actually like as an ISP? In our most recent review, we praised the company for its solid routers, wide coverage and, most importantly, reliability. In fact, it even finished in second place in the Most Reliable category of the Expert Reviews Best Broadband Awards 2023, where 78% of the customers we surveyed said they were satisfied with the stability of their connection.

That put it ahead of big-hitters such as BT, Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone. The caveat, as so often is the case with broadband suppliers, is lacklustre customer service. That said, 72% of customers who responded to our survey were either neutral or satisfied with the support they received, which again puts TalkTalk ahead of Virgin Media.

As cheapest broadband plans go, this is a peach: a healthy download speed of up to 78Mbits/sec (with a minimum of 55Mbits/sec) and an upload rate of 20Mbits/sec for GBP27/mth on an 18-month contract, with nothing to pay upfront.

The next three deals are seriously good. The first offers a download speed of up to 153Mbits/sec (with a minimum of 120Mbits/sec) and a maximum upload rate of 30Mbits/sec for an impressive GBP32/mth, with zero setup fees to pay.

That’s enough grunt for any number of devices to do whatever they want online. For an extra GBP7/mth, the Full Fibre 500 plan seriously ups the broadband deal ante: a whopping top download speed of 526Mbits/sec (a minimum of 440Mbits/sec) and an upload rate of 73Mbits/sec for GBP39/mth, plus a ludicrous GBP100 gift card to spend on whatever you want.

Blimey. It’s an incredible tariff that beats BT’s 500Mbits/sec plan, which lasts for two years rather than 18 months, by GBP6/mth. It’s a deal that’s tailor-made for lag-avoiding gamers, high-quality streamers and homeworkers who need a lightning-fast connection.

Last, but certainly not least, is TalkTalk’s top-of-the-range Full Fibre 900 plan, which bags you a jaw-dropping top download speed of 948Mbits/sec and an upload rate of 112Mbits/sec (with a guaranteed 725Mbits/sec) for GBP49/mth on an 18-month contract, with nothing to pay upfront.

That’s enough bandwidth to do anything you like online and, once again, beats the equivalent BT plan by GBP6/mth.
