10 Affordable Used Ferraris You Can Buy Today

Let’s get one thing clear from the start, three words that must always be taken with a pinch of salt when said together are ‘affordable’, ‘used’ and ‘Ferrari‘, because it’s very much hit-and-miss. You could make a safe bet and buy an alternatively interesting used car, such as an old 911 or a supercharged Jaguar, but the truth is that nothing really comes close to a Ferrari when emotions enter the chat. The prancing horse of Maranello captivates and makes you flutter your eyelids like few other brands can, and that’s what makes a used Ferrari so very tempting.

Now, having said that, there are more than enough affordable Ferraris out there if you’re willing to fork out the maintenance and upkeep costs, because one brand you will never be able to run like a Ford is a Ferrari – of any kind. Regardless, here are 10 of our favorite, affordable used Ferraris:

10 Ferrari Mondial (£45,000)

There are those that say the Mondial is Ferrari’s worst model, and others that think the doubters are inherently wrong. Regardless of which side of the fence you stand, it’s pretty difficult to argue that the Mondial isn’t a looker.

At every angle, especially in convertible guise, the car just oozes glamour and prestige. This 28-years-owned 1990 Ferrari Mondial T is a fantastic black on black example of a proper two seat cabriolet that has the engine noise and the ice cool looks to put a huge smile on your face. The 3.4-liter quad-cam V8 is good for between 270 and 295-hp.

It may not be the quickest Ferrari on this list, but you’d struggle to find a cooler car for the price.

9 Ferrari 348 (£65,000)

There are plenty of hints towards the Testarossa with Enzo Ferrari’s last ever design, which was introduced in 1989. The very best features of the Ferrari 348 make it absolutely worth the money, especially considering you have a choice of either a Berlinetta, targa or spider body type. Close to 8,900 were produced over a six-year period, so you’re not short on examples to hunt for on the market.

An offer of just under £65,000 will get you the cheapest Ferrari 358 for sale on Kelley Blue Book at present, which is less expensive than a brand-new Alpine A110. As lovely as the Alpine is, we’re not sure if it’s more desirable than a 348.

8 Ferrari F355 Spider (£67,000)

There are some that believe the Ferrari F355 isn’t as good as its price tag suggests, but if you’ve got the money to maintain it properly, you’ll find few cars for a similar price that can draw a crowd quite like the F355 can. Prices still vary wildly for one, with some going for as low as £55k, while others have been listed for over £150k.

We’ve found a sensational example of a 36k-mile 1999 Ferrari F355 Spider that was sold on Bring A Trailer for just £67,000. A car that sounds and looks this gorgeous for £10k less than the starting price of a 2023 BMW M3? Yes please.

7 Ferrari 360 (£70,000)

Are you even surprised the 2000-2005 Ferrari 360 is here? It’s one of the most obvious choices to go for, and that’s because it’s a genuinely fabulous Ferrari. With prices now dropping to attainable amounts, the 360 is one of the most common Ferrari’s you’ll see on the road today.

Not that that’s a bad thing. A browse through the Kelley Blue Book website shows the cheapest example of a used Ferrari 360 at present will set you back just under £70,000. The Tipo F131 V8 spits out 400-hp through a six-speed manual or a six-speed auto – opt for the former, and it’s very likely to be a gated box.

Imagine yourself taking that out for a spin in the hills?

6 Ferrari 308 (£70,000)

Many iterations of the 308 exist, so it’s tricky to definitively say which one to opt for. It comes down to personal preference, but one thing’s for sure: the Ferrari 308 is more desirable than ever right now. With the production years ranging from 1975 and 1985, the 308 is a genuine classic Ferrari.

Where pricing is concerned, it’s very easy to fall into a trap and pick up a bad example. The huge price range means, currently, you should be expecting to pay around £70,000 for a good example. Do not be tempted in to the ones floating at the £30,000 to £40,000 margin.

Rather, find a clean example like this 26-years-owned 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB.

5 Ferrari F430 (£71,000)

Ferrari F430

Like the 360 earlier, the F430 is one of the cars that shaped the brand in the 2000s, and can’t be seen as anything other than a huge success. There are plenty of reasons why every gearhead should drive the Ferrari F430, but only one reason to own one: it’s automotive perfection. With a top speed of 193mph thanks to the 490-hp it develops from its 4.3-liter V8, the real joy comes from the fact that it will happily rev to 8,500rpm.

The top-end scream is just bewitching. A used 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider is currently put up on Kelley Blue Book for just over £70,000, which is quite honestly a steal. Given that most examples will fetch over £80,000, and with no obvious issues to report, how can this not be considered a bargain?

You’re getting one of the very best convertible Ferrari’s of the last 30 years in return. Related: 10 Ferrari Models That Have Depreciated The Most

4 Ferrari 456M GTA (£71,000)

Think of the 456M GTA as a slightly older but better looking alternative to the 612 Scaglietti. It’s much less sporty than a lot of the other cars on this list, and considerably more focussed on mile-munching.

Ferrari’s grand tourers have always been hit or miss, but the 456 is now a V12 bargain that is an unquestionable hit. A near pristine example 11k-mile 2003 Ferrari 456M GTA recently sold on Bring A Trailer for just £71,456 (slightly ironic how the last three digits of its sale price are the same as the car’s own digits). For that, the buyer got a 5.5-liter V12, four-speed automatic transaxle gearbox, leather upholstery and Rosso Fiorano paint.

That sounds like quite the recipe for a long-distance cruiser, and the 456M GTA is exactly that.

3 Ferrari California (£80,000)

The California has its skeptics, no doubt, and there are plenty that say it isn’t a proper Ferrari – but is that true? It may not have the dashing looks that most of its siblings do, but the California certainly has the barnstorming performance to justify its prancing horse badge. That’s why we believe the Ferrari California is underrated by most.

It is also one of the most popular Ferrari models of the 21st century, so it comes as no surprise that there are so many in circulation. A look over at Kelley Blue Brook for a used Ferrari California for sale will bring up plenty of sub £80k examples. If you manage to get your hands on one, please do take one of its aforementioned skeptics out for a ride to see if they still think it isn’t a proper Ferrari.

2 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (£93,000)

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Finished In Red
Via: Ferrari

Remember when Jeremy Clarkson drove a 612 from England to Verbier, beating a jet plane in the process?

The 2004-2011 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti isn’t the prettiest car the brand has ever made, and does at times look like a cheap imitation of the 599. However, the purpose of the 612 is to grand tour, and on that front, it will chew up motorways and skip across continents without breaking a sweat. It’s one of the more expensive models on our list, and has seen a fluctuation in price over the last few years, but it seems to have finally settled.

A 2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti should set you back around £93,000, give or take a few thousand dollars either way. In return, you’re getting a mile-muncher that would put Aston Martins to shame. Related: The 10 Rarest Ferraris And How Much They’re Worth

1 Ferrari 575M Maranello (£118,000)

Here at HotCars, we love the Ferrari 575M Maranello.

It’s beautiful, and its 5.7-liter V12 is controlled through a choice of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed F1-style automatic box. It’s a proper driver’s car that’s engaging and willing to be thrown around. Factor in the 515-hp you’ve got to play with, and it comes as no surprise that this is one of Maranello’s finest.

With over 2,000 examples produced, they can still be found for respectable prices.

The cheapest Ferrari 575M Maranello for sale on Kelley Blue Book is currently placed at £118,900.

That’s not exactly “affordable”, but for what you’re getting in return, it’s a shrewd investment.
