There’s a beautiful seaside town in the North of England that has been listed as one of the top ten in the UK – but it is often overlooked, or possibly even unheard of. Just under five hours from London is a coastal town in North Yorkshire. This beautiful spot has been listed as the tenth most beautiful coastal town in all of the UK, on a list that includes famous spots such as Salcombe, St Ives, Bournemouth and Padstow.

This seaside town is a popular holiday destination for people from Yorkshire but probably less well known in other parts of the UK.
A sandy strip of beach looks out to the water whilst beautiful old architecture fills the air in the town. This seaside town was at one time a fishing village and still features a historic promenade with beautiful Edwardian architecture and an impressive five mile beach. Filey often goes overlooked as a seaside destination – despite easily being one of the best
No seaside holiday is complete without a fish and chips.
Favourite spots in the town include Ingham’s Fish, Dicky Bees Fish and Chips or CJ’s Fish and Chips. If you don’t fancy something with vinegar then you can grab an Indian at Monsoon Indian Cuisine or a Chinese at Golden Dragon. If you want to satiate that sweet tooth after you dinner then head to Shuga Shak on the water front.
Filey is easy enough to reach via train from London. According to Trainline you can reach the seaside town in less than four hours if you get a train from London Kings Cross to Doncaster, changing for Filey. Tickets cost just GBP29 one way.
If you pay more you can get there in less than three and a half hours.

Travelling so far away you will likely wish to stay the night rather than making the journey home in one day.
