Clothing store on Cheshire retail park to close after 16 years
A clothing chain’s store in Northwich will be closing down this week after 16 years. Peacocks on Northwich Retail Park will shut its doors for the last time on Wednesday (April 5). The team at the shop posted on social media urging customers to ‘grab a bargain’ during their last days.
They added that they were hoping ‘to reopen in the future’. A post on the Peacocks Northwich page on Facebook said: “Unfortunately, we are closing our doors on Wednesday, April 5. Come and grab a bargain from our sale whilst you can.

From all of our team in Northwich, we would like to thank the customers who have supported us over the last 16 years, and we hope to reopen in the future.
This is goodbye for now.” The announcement came after it was confirmed last year that Peacocks and Carpet Right next door would shut when plans to amalgamate four units on the retail park into one large store with a garden centre were given the green light last year. It is not yet known which retailer would be taking over the larger unit.
A planning document submitted by retail estate firm Savills on behalf of the applicant said the changes were needed for an ‘incoming tenant’. It read: “The physical works are proposed to facilitate the amalgamation and refurbishment of the floorspace to create a single, larger premises. The works are necessary in order to facilitate the operation of the floorspace by an incoming tenant.”
A transport assessment document submitted with the application described the incoming tenant as a ‘discount variety retailer’.
