East London Asda shoppers horrified as bacon found '3 days out of …
A frustrated Asda customer has been outraged after finding a whole box of out of date bacon on supermarket shelves. Sharing images of the packs of Asda ‘s own brand ‘Extra Special’ unsmoked bacon medallions to a local London Facebook page Charlie Allen said that finding out of date products at his nearest Asda is becoming a common occurrence. In a post on Canary Wharf & Isle of Dogs E14 Residents the exasperated customer wrote: “A whole box of bacon was on the isles of Asda Crossharbour today- 3 days out of date.
It has been reported and hopefully removed. But be aware that this is a frequent occurrence.” Charlie told MyLondon that the issue of out of date food being left out for sale had been getting worse in the Crosshorbour store over the past 3-4 months.
The Isle of Dogs local says he has been shopping at the location for 10 years but has noticed the change only recently. READ MORE: Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Tesco: Grocery prices in major UK supermarkets skyrocket with cost of cereal up by over 100 per cent

Locals reacted to the image sharing their own frustrations with store and Asda in general. Halima Arshad commented: “I got chicken that was off I returned it for a refund …
I used to do my big online shop from there but there was always stuff missing and I was unable to get a refund online so I’ve stopped doing my big shop there only go there for afew things I’m trying to avoid it all together.” “There was a pork loin that was 8 days out of date the other day also,” wrote Jay Harrison. “ASDA OVER THE ISLAND NEEDS A GOOD SHAKE UP A RESHUFFLE AND A GOOD SORTING OUT ITS GONE RIGHT DOWN THE PAN. RIDICULOUS IN THERE LIKE A GIANT JUMBLE SALE,” added Queenie Russell.
Supermarkets have been hitting the headlines a lot in over the past few months from everything from over 10 per cent food inflation to supply chain issues leaving people without eggs and tomatoes. This has led to a massive drop in trust amongst consumers when it comes to grocers, according to a Which? study. In regards to the out of date products an Asda spokesperson said: “We have strict processes in place to ensure that all of our products are regularly checked to ensure they are in date.
We are looking into what could have happened on this occasion and want to reassure our customers that all of the bacon on the shelves in this store has been checked and is in date.” Want more from MyLondon? Sign up to our daily newsletters for all thelatest and greatest from across London here.
