Kansas City Royals Bring AR to Home Games

Kansas City Royals fans will be able to interact with augmented reality technology during home games at Kauffman Stadium during the 2023 baseball season, thanks to a partnership between the team and fan-engagement platform ARound. ARound’s Crown Vision AR platform will allow the venue’s 38,000 attendees to access a shared AR experience on their smartphones that updates in real time during games. For instance, a fireworks effect will be triggered after a home run.

The AR experience is available through the ARound Stadium app, which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android devices. In addition to providing real-time updates related to the current game, the Crown Vision AR experience will turn Kauffman Stadium into a virtual castle with a fire-breathing dragon that attendees can control. Fans can also play games like a Hot Dog Derby race for a chance to receive in-stadium discounts and prizes.

Prior to this partnership with the Kansas City Royals, ARound launched its AR stadium experience with the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
