New Poundland store opens in Somerset town this weekend

A new discount store is to open in Weston-super-Mare this month. Poundland will be opening its doors at the former Argos store at Queensway, Worle on April 8 at 8am. The 5,100 sq ft store will employ 21 full and part-time staff and is a second store for Poundland in the town – the other can be found on the High Street and opened in May 2011.

The new store will offer everyday essentials such as groceries, drinks and snacks as well as revamped health and beauty, entertainment, stationery and craft ranges. The store has been designed for maximum convenience and to allow customers to do more of their shopping in a single trip. It will join the growing number of Poundland stores, now across half of the portfolio, to sell chilled and frozen food, from desserts and ice-cream to ready meals and pies and from cooked meats to frozen vegetables.

Poundland director of retail, Darren Kay, said: “We can’t wait to open our doors at the Queensway Centre and we know from talking to people in Weston that shoppers are looking forward to the opening of our second store.

“We’re working hard to make sure our new store will be a cracking example of the breadth of what we can offer in a convenient location. And just like all our stores, it will offer amazing value to customers looking to make their money go further.”
