Poundland opening in Castle Bromwich's old Jack's supermarket …
A new Poundland store is opening in Solihull – with its very own frozen food aisle. The discount retailer is to open its latest West Midlands store in Castle Bromwich, in the former premises of Jack’s discount store. Jack’s was part of Tesco‘s line of low-cost supermarkets, but all branches, including their Castle Bromwich and Rubery sites, closed in 2018.
But Solihull bargain hunters won’t be disappointed, as Poundland bosses have promised a “cracking” selection of deals in its store. The new branch opens its doors on Thursday, April 8, at 8am. The new Timberley Lane store is part of Pounland’s major expansion this year which will see them open 50 new stores and create up to 800 new jobs.
Castle Bromwich’s new store will carry the retailer’s PEP clothing range as well as chilled and frozen food. Bosses at the budget giant said bargain hunters will find the store has been designed for maximum convenience and to allow customers to do more of their shopping in a single trip. The Castle Bromwich store will join the growing number of Poundland stores selling hilled and frozen food, from desserts and ice-cream to ready meals and pies and from cooked meats to frozen vegetables. This will be welcome news for those strict on household budgeting and waste reduction.
Poundland director of retail, Darren Kay, said: “We can’t wait to open our doors on Timberley Lane and we know from talking to people in Castle Bromwich that shoppers are looking forward to the opening of our second store. “Our new store will be a cracking example of the breadth of what we can offer in a convenient location. We’ll be working hard to bring the best of Poundland and just like all our stores, it will offer amazing value every day to customers looking to beat the economic squeeze.”
