Spot Charles Hanson's hidden treasure he found in charity shop …
Celebrity auctioneer Charles Hanson has once again teased his fans on social media by posting a photo of the cluttered shelves of a local charity shop where an undiscovered, undervalued item is hidden. His Track the Treasure game he plays with fans is much like Where’s Wally, the puzzle challenges punters to pick out a rare, treasured or valuable item from a stash of ornaments in a shop, hoard or a kitchen cabinet. This week, the Bargain Hunt star, based in Derbyshire, was in an unnamed charity shop and released a photo of shelves packed with interesting items.
Several items of glassware can be seen, as well as several plates and other products found in a kitchen. Now it’s up to you to take a good look at the photograph above to see if you can spot the rare item that caught his expert eye. Posting the picture on his Twitter account on Saturday, he said: “After a wander, I finally found an item which allows me to invite you to play ‘Track The Treasure ‘ .Can you spot what I found lurking in a charity shop today?

Some people had in fact hit the nail on the head and spotted the right item when the answer was revealed later on Monday morning. The treasure was in fact a glazed pottery jug from the 18th century. You’d be forgiven for missing the hidden treasure as it is well disguised, hiding on the third shelf in the middle behind a brown-coloured cup and jug.

Charles explained the item’s significance, tweeting that the jug was a Dutch tin glazed earthenware pottery jug, known as delftware.
The antique expert added: “See the chipping around the rim, a ‘tell tale sign’. The painting in blue is free and spontaneous before the glaze dries.” The few followers who managed to successfully track the treasure were quick to celebrate in the comments of Charles’ tweet.
One fan tweeted: “Haha yes got it right for once.” We send out the biggest stories in an email every day. Sign up for the main Derbyshire Live newsletter here
