Do you need a safety gate that fits an opening between 73 cm and 80 cm or up to 108 cm? Safety 1st Easy Close Metal Gate is a child safety stair gate: the double-lock safety release makes it difficult for toddlers 6 months – 2 years old to open the gate (Safety 1st strongly recommend to always keep an eye on the child, since children quickly become more independent. Children should never be left unattended).

The Safety 1st Easy Close Metal Gate has an extra wide passage section and opens with one hand. Simply press the buttons on the handle to open the gate and slam or push it to close it. The SecureTech visual indicator confirms whether the stair gate is securely closed (green indicator means locked, red means unlocked). In addition to the ergonomic handle, Safety 1st Easy Close Metal Gate is extra wide to be comfortable to walk through. Open the safety gate in one or both directions, depending on where the child gate is mounted.

Assembly requires no drilling, but includes a simple push-fit fitting for a secure fit. If the space you are fitting the gate is larger than 80 cm, you may wish to consider our Safety 1st Gate Extensions (sold separately) especially designed for mounting in larger openings. Safety 1st offers a range of 7 cm or 14 cm gate extensions to extend the Safety 1st Easy Close Metal Gate up to 108 cm. In addition, Safety 1st also offers an additional accessory called a Safety 1st Y-spindle, to fit on stair railings (sold separately).

WARNING: Please be aware that one side of the frame will be at an angle when you remove it from the box but this is part of the design. It’s the feature and the benefit that creates the pressure to hold the gate in place. This play closes when the child safety gate is correctly mounted in the door frame.

Where can I place my gate?

The gate can be used at the top or bottom of the stairs and in door frames. Ensure that the wall, door frame or support to which you fix the barrier is solid, stable, smooth and is non-greasy. The safety barrier must not be fitted across windows.

Can I use the gate on any stairwell? For e.g. spiral staircase, staircase with handrail

The gate can be used at the top or bottom of the stairs if they have 2 parallel support – ensure that this is solid, stable, smooth and non-greasy. Y-spindles make it possible to fix a gate onto a ramp, a balustrade or any other cylindrical upright.

Why does my gate not close?

Can the gate stay open?

The gate has an easy close system: slam or push to shut. If it isn't slammed, the gate will remain open.
