Am I required to use my smartphone?
You can safely keep your phone tucked away as long as it's within reach of Tom. This is because Tom requires an enabled Bluetooth connection with the TomTom app. Pairing Tom with the TomTom app requires Android 12 or higher, or iOS 18 or higher
Do I need a subscription to use Tom and the TomTom app?
No, you don't need a subscription. TomTom app can be installed from the appstore without any cost, other than your smartphone's data usage.
Which data sources does TomTom use?
TomTom has 600 million connected devices across the globe. Having such a widespread driving community allows us to bring you extremely accurate hazard warnings and traffic information. And not only in your home country, but also abroad.
What about local legislation with regards to speed camera alerts?
France: Speed cameras are unavailable; only Danger Zones can be accessed.
Germany: Using devices that alert for speed cameras is prohibited. Disable speed camera alerts before and during driving in Germany.
How do I set up the device in my car?
Tom comes with a magnetic mount with adhesive strip. The adhesive strip should be attached to your car's dashboard. The metal plates in the alert device will then stick to the magnet.
