This HBA is built on the LSI/Broadcom SAS2008 controller and aligned with the popular LSI 9211-8i platform. Flashed to IT mode, it provides clean JBOD/passthrough for software-defined storage. Two internal Mini-SAS SFF-8087 headers let you connect up to eight SATA or SAS drives; we include 2× SFF-8087 to 4× SATA breakout cables so you can directly attach eight SATA HDDs/SSDs at up to 6Gbps per port out of the box. When you need more capacity, add an external SAS expander to scale to large arrays while keeping PCIe 2.0 x8 bandwidth. Ideal for ZFS pools on FreeNAS/TrueNAS, unRAID arrays, and Proxmox/ESXi home-lab NAS builds that demand reliability, flexibility, and straightforward IT-mode operation.
