Built for high-density storage, this 16-port 12Gb/s SAS HBA (Compatible with LSI 9300-16i) uses dual LSI/Broadcom SAS3008 controllers behind an onboard PCIe switch to deliver full-bandwidth PCIe 3.0 x8 performance to four Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643) connectors. In IT Mode (Non-RAID), it exposes your disks cleanly to the OS for ZFS, TrueNAS/FreeNAS, unRAID, Proxmox, and ESXi, enabling reliable JBOD passthrough and easy expansion with external SAS expanders. Each SFF-8643 port fans out to four SATA devices; we include 4× SFF-8643 to 4× SATA breakout cables (total 16 SATA drops) so you can wire a full chassis on day one. Backward-compatible with 6Gb/s SATA, supports hot-swap, and includes both full-height/low-profile brackets in typical deployments. Note: the included cables are for SATA drives; for SAS drives, use SFF-8643 to 4× SFF-8482 SAS cables (with power) sold separately or our matched kit.
