Poldark: The Complete Collection Series 1-2

“I want to see Cornwall prosper, not act as a slave to the rest of England.”

Starring ROBIN ELLIS as Ross Poldark, ANGHARAD REES as Demelza. JILL TOWNSEND as Elizabeth Poldark and RALPH BATES as George Warleggan. Based on the epic series of romantic novels by Winston Graham, the BBCs’ first adaptation of Poldark is one of the best-loved period dramas in television history.

When Captain Ross Poldark returns home from war, he discovers that reports of his death have reached Cornwall before him. He finds his family business in ruins and the love of his life, Elizabeth, about to marry another man. On top of that, his arch-enemy, George Warleggan the ambitious industrialist has grown ever more powerful and is hell-bent on the destruction of the entire Poldark clan. It’s not long before Ross Poldark meets the beautiful servant girl, Demelza. The fiery miner’s daughter falls in love with the dashing army Captain and the two begin a passionate love affair. But however much Ross claims to love Demelza, can she ever truly replace Elizabeth in his heart?

Filmed on location, Poldark is set against the stunning backdrop of the Cornish coast. With an unforgettable cast of characters, Poldark captures the frictions in a society starkly divided by class between the very rich and the very poor. And the loyal but often reckless Captain Poldark often finds himself siding with society’s underdogs against their better of masters. Poldark is an unforgettable epic tale of love, betrayal, rivalry, and romance which when first shown on BBC1 in 1975-77, captivated an audience of over 12 million viewers.

This complete collection contains every episode of the original Poldark ever made, now fully restored with HD film restoration of surviving exterior shots, which were originally shot on 16mm film, and repaired and upscaled videotape from the earliest surviving masters

This 7-disc set also includes English subtitles.
