Citizen Smith was John Sullivan’s breakthrough sitcom before Only Fools and Horses, starring Robert Lindsay as Wolfie Smith — the scruffy Che Guevara of South London.

From the local pub, “The Vigilante,” Wolfie led the Tooting Popular Front with the cry “Power to the People!” only to see his revolutionary dreams collapse into comic misadventure. Lampooning radical politics, punk-era disillusionment, and the clash between youthful idealism and everyday reality, the series made Wolfie a cultural icon of the late ’70s. Today it stands as a cult classic— a sharp slice of political satire and pure comedy genius.

Now finally on Blu-ray, the series has had an extensive restoration of the surviving original tape elements. Previously removed scenes and shots have put back with revised music, making this the most complete release of this classic comedy series ever, as John Sullivan originally intended.
