The M24 Chaffee was developed as a successor to the light tanks M3/M5 Stuart and officially entered service in 1944. It features a slanted armor on the tower and cockpit and used the considerable firepower of the 75mm gun originally developed for the B-25 bomber. Unusual for an American tank was the use of a swivel bar suspension. Even before the end of World War II, it was used when the Allies marked through France and Western Europe and fought in Italy. After the war, he was in use in important conflicts of the 20th century, such as the Korean War and the Indochina War.
