For optimum performance, it is necessary to connect to a suitable BS 1363-EV-rated mains socket that is marked for EV charging. Standard UK 3-pin sockets aren't built for sustained EV charging, risking overheating, electrical faults and fires.
Can I use an extension cord with charger?
It's strongly discouraged. Extension cords are often not designed to handle the high current demands of EV charging and can overheat, posing a fire risk. Never use multiple extension cords plugged together.
What should I do if my charger gets hot?
