The Battle of Leipzig was fought in October 1813 and represents one of the most important clashes of the Napoleonic Wars. It is also known as the “Battle of the Nations” due to the large number of armies involved. On the battlefield were in fact the troops of Napoleon’s reconstituted French army, after the heavy defeat during the Russian campaign, flanked by some allied states facing the armies of the Sixth Coalition composed mainly of Russia, Prussia, Austria and Sweden. The clash lasted from 16 to 19 October near the German city of Leipzig and marked the beginning of the definitive decline of Napoleon’s rule in Europe. Napoleon’s great military capacity was not enough to counter the numerical dominance of troops fielded by the rulers of the Sixth Coalition. For collectors over the age of 14.
